It stands for supraventricular tachycardia.
It all started while we were walking/shuffling around the track at the Y. Bob was almost done with his self-assigned number of laps when I announced to him that I felt funny. Funny like my heart was beating too fast. He took my pulse and said it indeed was going pretty fast. I sat down while Bob finished his laps, but then I didn’t like this feeling of pressure on my chest. I wondered if it was a brain-generated panic attack, but when it persisted I told Bob I was bothered enough to want to go to the Brownsburg HRH hospital. So off we went…
It was the part where they injected adenosine to ever so briefly flatline the heart. What?!? No worries… we’ll also have these paddles attached just in case it doesn’t start right back up. What?!?
Needless to say all’s well, and it was probably a one-off event. Phew!
